Our Faith

Cursillo originated within the Catholic Church in 1949 in Spain and migrated to the U.S. in 1957. Cursillo teaches fundamental Christian doctrines and is used by many denominations, with details adapted to reflect denominational differences.

Presbyterian Cursillo is faithful to the teaching of scripture and to the reformed doctrine of the Presbyterian Church (USA). The Cursillo method was revised in accordance with PCUSA doctrine just over 20 years ago by Rev. Fred Keith as part of his doctoral thesis at Columbia Theological Seminary.

Although lay-led, Presbyterian Cursillo enjoys the support of PCUSA and many individual presbyteries and congregations. Presbyterian clergy are part of the staff at every weekend as spiritual advisors, leading worship and administering communion.

What we believe

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell.

The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
